5 Reasons Why I Travel

1️⃣ Because money comes back. Time doesn’t.

I can earn more.

I can rebuild.

I can save again.

But I cannot recreate a moment once it’s gone.

I cannot relive a season of life.

I cannot get back a year I postponed joy.

Time is our most valuable commodity — and it’s the only one we can’t replenish.

2️⃣ Because memories will always be greater than things.

Memories > things.

Shoes wear out.

Cars age.

Trends change.

But the memory of watching the sunset with someone you love?

That never depreciates.

Experiences outlive possessions.

3️⃣ Because time with family is precious.

The seasons shift quickly.

Kids grow.

Parents age.

Dynamics change.

The core memories you build with loved ones are the greatest treasures you can have on earth.

You don’t remember the couch.

You remember the road trip.

The beach walk.

The laughter in a tiny café.

4️⃣ Because life is messy — and the world is still beautiful.

Travel doesn’t mean life is perfect.

It means I refuse to wait for perfect.

It reminds me that joy and hardship can coexist.

That beauty is still available — even in heavy seasons.

5️⃣ Because we are not guaranteed more time.

Not next year

Not someday….

Instead I focus on the hear and now and make a huge effort to say yes to adventure as often as possible… sometimes that looks like planning a trip to a local destinatination, like a bigger city, the beach, planning a hike or extended stay somewhere we haven’t explored much yet instead of a larger trip when funds are tighter. Other times it’s planning, making the arrangements, creating the itinerary for a dream trip & actually booking the flights! The point is, adventure doesn’t have to be far away to be an amazing time, impactful and give you a memorable time & experience. It only really matters that you enjoyed it and made the choice to go!

Some of our favorite getaways over the years have been short overnight stays in areas close to home but yet far enough to feel like a little respite from everyday life. For those types of getaways we’ve always loved planning longer day trips, hiking trips, chasing waterfalls and getting out in the nature around us. *Small plug for my home state; Oregon is a fantastic location for those who love outdoor adventure and are looking for unique nature to explore. Highly recommend driving over to the coast and driving up/down HWY 101, or heading to the Columbia River Gorge and driving Historic HWY 30 & then heading south to HWY 138 near Roseburg for those who are fellow waterfall chasers like me. All of these highways will leave you in awe and wonder! 😉

I love to travel in the shoulder seasons Spring and Fall because they are some of the best times to travel, things are less crowded and prices are generally lower. What trip are you considering planning this year?
